The first responder teams at Big River Ambulance District participate in, host, and support numerous local events throughout the year. We believe that our role in the region extends beyond daily service; a safe community is a strong community, and our teams serve beyond the call of duty to educate, support, and strengthen Jefferson County and its communities.
The Annual Fire Engine Rally
The city of Herculaneum hosts this annual event that features a parade of fire and ambulance districts throughout the region. The Rally also includes a scavenger hunt for children, a fire sprinkler suppression demonstration, and other family-friendly activities.
Backstoppers BBQ
This cookout for a cause benefits Backstoppers, which helps provide financial assistance and care to families of fallen first responders. The BBQ also includes ambulance tours and goodie bags for children.
The Exploration Station at Career Day
The Big River team discusses the job of a first responder at this annual career day event. The team also helps children understand the role of first responders and answers questions to help ease their anxiety (if they see us during an emergency).
Light Up Glennon
During the holiday season, area fire and ambulance districts gather outside Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital to sing carols and bring holiday cheer to the children. All departments flash their lights, and the children shine flashlights through the windows. Big River Ambulance District looks forward to participating in this yearly holiday event!
